Personality tests address the questions, "Who am I— really, down deep inside? What am I best at? Am I missing my real potentials?" — questions we all ponder from time to time.
Introspection can take us only so far, which is why personality testing has become a significant industry.
We'll be adding a new book on personality testing here soon. In the meantime, here's another take on
personality testing, which I first heard about in a USA Today article by Del Jones: "Favorite colors test shows CEOs are different; take the test."
This personality test is not just for CEOs or CEO wanna-bes. Some who've taken it claim that it's even spot-on for people who are color blind. (It worked for me, and while I'm not color blind, my color repertoire hasn't expanded much beyond the eight colors in my first box of crayons!)
The test, developed by CareerPath. com, is free. This is from the USA Today article:
"The test takes about 60 seconds. It is almost entirely visual and asks people to
click on colors, sometimes ordering as many as 15 colors from favorite to least
favorite. The results turn out a personality profile that is far from perfect,
but is proving to be as valid as more established and lengthy verbal tests such
as Myers-Briggs and the Gallup StrengthsFinder. The results can steer people
toward a career that matches their personality and strengths with jobs they
might find enjoyable."
My suggestion: first take the test, then use the second link to access the full article, as well as other tests offered by the company, CareerPath. com.
